Acacia is a singer-songwriter born in Argentina with a very personal voice and a style that ranges from soft ballads to strong and exciting pop and even funky rhythms. She writes and sings in Spanish but also in English - check out her song "You’ve been more" -. Acacia started her work as a writer and composer in 2004, composing in a very personal way in a kind of workshop with the assistance of talented sessionist musicians in an old house in Palermo Hollywood - a typical renovated and fashionable district in the city of Buenos Aires. In this non traditional workshop Acacia has composed dozens of songs and has since performed in the city of Buenos Aires and in several venues in New York City. She has also developed her creativeness giving a fresh touch to covers in English and in Spanish. Acustic guitars and non-structured and vibrating piano arrangements find their way in this musical collage.
In Argentina, Acacia has performed in different venues in the well known neighbourhood of old San Telmo (’Por Vos Buenos Aires? bar and disco) and in the fashion neighbourhood of Palermo Hollywood (’La vieja bodega’ lounge, ’Siamo Noi’ bar and restaurant). She has also performed in numerous venues for different types of audiences.
Last year Acacia formed a band with musicians of the scene of New York with whom she performed her songs on several occasions. The rehearsal sessions were recorded in what is known as ’The New York Sessions’. Her most acclaimed songs are: Corazón Puro, No hace falta, Cuando vos te vas, Si no vuelvo, Para que dejes.
Depeche Mode’s Somebody, Gilberto Santarosas’s Si te dijeron, and What I did for love (from ’A Chorus Line’) are among her most well known covers.
