Digital Noise Control was an Electronic Music Project that I began in 1990. During the years of 1990 - 1993, I developed, composed, and recorded 15 tracks on my Ensoniq EPS keyboard. In 1994 and 1995 I played out at The Continental and University at Buffalo one time each.
The Continental gig was with a guitarist named Robert Johnson that I met at a Cafe in Buffalo named Robert Johnson. I used some traditional TR-808 drum samples and loops to back up his funk guitar. His lyrics included "This Revolutionary Panther is Pink"
Jumping forward 10 years, its a longer story about getting the tracks into circulation and on the internet, with a variety of services, self service, and learning about how Linux works.
Some of them included Garage Band, and iLike, although I am not particularly happy about the way these companies handle business, now that I know they are in it for massive profit at the artists expense. At one point they pasted a big Budweiser sign on top of my music. And I do not endorse Budweiser, or particularly care for their beer, or particularly like their parent company.
At Christmas this year, I decided to be selfish, and I bought myself a laptop and a new Emu X-61 keyboard, spending a total of $500.00 And set about recording some new material. The great part about the X-61 is that it came with Cubase-LE which is very flexible.
2 weeks ago, I met Aaron Leighton in Internet Relay Chat and we decided to go ahead with working on some tracks together. The last 2 tracks in our Catalog, Global Process, and American Mohawk, are a direct result of me mixing down his Guitar. His Fender Stratacaster, has a wonderful sound, and I really enjoy working with the tracks he writes.
Our video Global Process featured at http://www.digitalnoisecontrol.com has received over 600,000 views in the last 8 days. And that number is still climbing. We have had recent (Friday) airplay on http://www.krankit.com through DJLIGHTNING who is a fellow IRC operator with myself in DalNet #America. Feel free to visit us, but keep in mind, it can get pretty hectic in there.
