The Filthy Liar, a name recently created from years of playing and creating music. Also known as Jona, The Filthy Liar has had many names. His first, "KONTAKT," was given to him by his brother, Virgil Robert. As KONTAKT, he spun house, trance, techno and drum n bass numerous times at Sean Kaley’s in Lemont, IL, where Virgil Robert was a long-term resident. The next name Jona took on was Original Dark, which stuck for quite some time. Under this name, he made his first demo, entitled "at the end of it all" and continued with appearances at house parties and Sean Kaley’s. ... Until the move to Hollywood...There had come a point in Jona’s career where he had one chance to make it big in a city that really doesn’t cater to the local DJ who spins drum n bass, especially his brand of dark tech-step. In Hollywood, his opportunity came in the form of a new friend footing the bill for the shows and studio time. Finally, through the battle of promoting himself, Original Dark made his break on the rooftop of the biggest hotel in Los Angeles: The Standard, where he spun every Monday night for a month. Next was a party at L.A’s hot spot The Spider Room, located above the famous Avalond Theater. These shows were a catapult to doing what he loved, but after some very intense drama in Hollywood, Jona decided to return to his home town of Chicago. He tried to start anything he could in the form of a crew or label. [***] Some time later, the name he chose for himself changed once again, this time to Sleep Apnea. As Sleep Apnea, he was invited to perform on Chicago’s bassdrive.com internet radio station, as well as at multiple shows and house parties. Despite the beginnings of success, he was getting very disappointed by the way people acted in chicago but kept pushing and networking. fianally finding old freinds and new ones, got a spot playing 3 weeks in a row at bar vertigo in chicago. playing next to alfonz de la mota, phantom 45,johnny o,addyct, zebo, and d-clef. on to more shows at his brothers club, he was given the chance to do a thursday night dnb weekly at sean kaleys. it never caught on and his time limit was up to show he could bring heads. those shows brought out dj’s sigon suicide, future prophet, and big fire. when he could not continue he got very dissa pointed and almost quit all together. then jona had decided to start producing instead of playing out. and thats when the filthy liar was formed. the filthy liar had not only produced tracks but made a myspace page. and a label page that is backed by producers helping him to fund this project(names not given by request of the artists) through all of that networking on myspace jona has located very good producers and has had enourmus help in making the dream come alive for the crew of producers and dj’s not getting a chance to shine.
